Solar Energy

WHAT IS SOLAR ENERGY?
Solar energy is probably the best-known source of renewable energy. A photovoltaic installation transforms the radiation energy from the sun into electricity. The sun is a main-sequence star and generates its energy by nuclear fusion into helium. The sun fuses 620 million metric tons of hydrogen each second and is an endless source of energy.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Solar energy installations convert sunlight into useful electricity.

They consist of photovoltaic panels, a mounting system, solar cables, inverters, and a monitoring unit that measures the amount of electricity produced.

The panels capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells that convert the sun’s radiation into DC (direct current) power. The DC power is transformed into useful AC (alternating current) power by inverters. This current is then fed to the AC main electricity supply of the building or to the grid, using a transformer.

The power generated by the PV (photovoltaic) installation depends on:

  • The amount of sunlight that falls in on the panels
  • The outside temperature
  • The performance of the installation
  • Solar panels can either be installed on your roof, or on the ground.

WHY SOLAR ENERGY?
Solar energy is very versatile and can be used in nearly every sector. After all, every company needs electricity. Solar energy is particularly interesting for companies and institutions that consume most electricity during the day, for cooling, lighting, equipment, air conditioning, etc.

Solar energy translates into direct savings on your electricity bill and remains a fast return on investment. In addition, this technology brings down operational costs and allows tighter control over the electricity costs in the long run.

The generated energy can be consumed locally, and the excess energy can be injected into the power grid. Every country has its own incentive scheme.
